The Beatles – The Next Generation

James McCartney, the only son of Paul, has announced that he would consider forming “The Beatles – The Next Generation” with the other musician offspring of The Beatles: Zak Starkey, Dhani Harrison and Sean Lennon. However, the idea may be on hold due to Zak Starkey’s reservations.

Little Willow

Paul McCartney wrote “Little Willow”, a song featured on his 1997 solo albumĀ Flaming Pie, as a tribute to Maureen Starkey. Maureen, who married and divorced Beatle Ringo, died due to complications from leukemia in 1994. The McCartneys were very close with Maureen and her family, and the song was written to help ease the pain of her death.

Maureen Starkey

Maureen Cox was a Beatles fan who frequented the Cavern Club, and later became involved with Ringo Starr. After the 18-year-old found out she was pregnant, the couple married in 1965. Their marriage began to dissintigrate around the time of the Beatles’ breakup, and the couple were officially divorced in 1975.

Zak Starkey

Ringo Starr and his first wife, Maureen Cox, had a baby boy named Zak Starkey in 1965. Zak grew up following in his father’s footsteps to become a drummer in his own right, eventually drumming with bands Oasis and The Who.
