A Love For You

Paul McCartney wrote and recorded the song “A Love for You” during the sessions for his 1971 album Ram. The song was not included on the album, and has remained unreleased until now.

“A Love for You” is one of the bonus tracks to be included on the remastered version of Ram, part of McCartney’s Archive Collection.

Flaming Pie

Paul McCartney’s solo album Flaming Pie was released 15 years ago on May 5th, 1997. The album, which was released following the massive Beatles Anthology project, had a definitive ‘Beatles’ sound to it, prompting many to believe it was a return to form for McCartney. The album was a critical and commercial success.

Tug of War 30th Anniversary

Happy 30th Anniversary to Paul McCartney’s solo album Tug of War, originally released on April 26th, 1982! The album was McCartney’s first after the passing of fellow former Beatle John Lennon, and contained the hit singles “Ebony and Ivory,” “Take It Away” and “Tug of War”. It also commemorated the year of McCartney’s 40th birthday.

Paul McCartney on ’30 Rock’

Paul McCartney made a surprise appearance on the special live episode of NBC’s 30 Rock that aired on April 26th, 2012. McCartney’s cameo included a hunt for Jack Donaghy’s secret bathroom and a slap on the face for actor Alec Baldwin.

Eleanor Rigby

The Beatles began recording Paul McCartney’s “Eleanor Rigby” on April 20th, 1966. None of the Beatles played any instruments on the track, although McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison contributed vocals. The song was eventually released on the album Revolver and as the b-side to the single “Yellow Submarine.”

Bert Weedon

Bert Weedon was a famous English guitarist, whose style was very popular throughout the country in the 1950s and 1960s. Wheedon was a big influence on many British guitar players, including Paul McCartney. The guitarist passed away on April 20th, 2012, at the age of 91.

RIP Linda McCartney

Linda McCartney, wife of Paul and mother to 4 of his children, died on April 17th, 1998. Linda had suffered from breast cancer for several years before passing away peacefully at her family home in Arizona.

The Beatles in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The Beatles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, their first year of eligibility. Paul McCartney opted not to attend the ceremony, while George Harrison and Ringo Starr, along with Yoko Ono and John Lennon’s sons Sean and Julian Lennon, accepted the award.

My Valentine Video

Paul McCartney has directed new videos for his single “My Valentine” from his recent album Kisses on the Bottom. The videos feature actors Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman performing sign language, and a third combines the 2 performances.
