The Beatles in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The Beatles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, their first year of eligibility. Paul McCartney opted not to attend the ceremony, while George Harrison and Ringo Starr, along with Yoko Ono and John Lennon’s sons Sean and Julian Lennon, accepted the award.

Decca Audition

The Beatles auditioned for Decca Records on New Years’ Day 1962 in London. The band performed a total of 15 songs in under an hour. Eventually the record company rejected The Beatles, claiming “guitar groups are on the way out” and “The Beatles have no future in show business.”
