From Me to You

“From Me to You” was a song written, recorded and released as a single by The Beatles in 1963. It became the first Beatles #1 single some UK charts, but did not make an impact in the U.S. The b-side of the single was another Lennon/McCartney composition “Thank You Girl.”

George Harrison was born on February 25th, 1943 in Liverpool, England. He sadly passed away on November 29th, 2001 at age 58.

George would have turned 69 years old today. Happy Birthday George Harrison!

I’ll Be on My Way

The Beatles’ “I’ll Be on My Way” was their first song to be ‘given away’ to another artist. Billy J. Kramer with The Dakotas (another Liverpool act managed by Brian Epstein) recorded the track in 1963 and released it as the b-side to their single “Do You Want to Know a Secret”, also written by Lennon/McCartney. The only released Beatles version was on their 1994 Live at the BBC compilation.

Twickenham Film Studios to Close

Twickenham Studios, the famous London film studio where The Beatles recorded their films “A Hard Day’s Night”, “Help!’ and “Let It Be” is set to close. The owners announced that the studio has been losing money and will close one year prior to its centennial anniversary.

You’re Going to Lose That Girl

This day in 1965, The Beatles recorded “You’re Going to Lose That Girl,” which was mainly written by John Lennon and features call-and-response backing vocals by Paul McCartney and George Harrison. The song was prominently showcased in the movie Help! and included on the soundtrack.

Give Peace a Chance

John Lennon’s first solo single was “Give Peace a Chance”, which was recorded live with a large crowd of people. The song was originally credited to Lennon-McCartney. Many believe this was done as a thank you to Paul McCartney for helping Lennon write and record the Beatles’ hit “The Ballad of John & Yoko.”
